In 2012, Skatell and Bubba Atkinson co-founded the Independent Journal Review, a news site that produces both political and popular culture content. While at the NRSC, Skatell focused on supporting Republican candidates by producing more of the group's media and digital content in house. In 2011, Skatell left the RGA to work as new media director for the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC). Skatell started the organization's first Facebok page and helped to increase their fund raising online. Īt 22, just after graduating, Skatell went to work for the Republican Governors Association (RGA), where he "earned a reputation as a digital wunderkind in the Republican Party," according to The New York Times. While there, he developed iPhone applications, one of which was "a top 25 application featured by Gizmodo and in the 'What’s Hot' section of the iTunes app store." Some of the money he made on these applications would later help Skatell start the Independent Journal Review. Skatell is the former digital director with the Republican Governors Association and former media director for the National Republican Senatorial Committee.Īlex Skatell began his career in digital media while still a student at Clemson University.
